This turn of the century home, in the Cathedral area was in dire need of a washroom update. The homeowner being a creative individual, wanted something unique. A rectangular shower with a corner angled door was built. A high end electronic control was installed, featuring a rainfall shower head, 6 body jets and a steam jet as well. The window was moved 2 feet left so the shower walls could be properly enclosed with glass.

There was a wall separating the kitchen from the basement stairway a never used pocket door. Wiring was relocated and the wall removed and patched. A new railing was built and installed. A wall cubby for shoes was also created, behind the exterior door. The cubby was completely lined with white formica, making it waterproof. A new, stainless steel basement railing was also installed.

We replaced the counter top and added a 2" square mosaic tile as a back splash. The range hood and microwave had power cords draped across the back splash. We looked after running new lines and hard wiring the rang hood, as well as adding a receptacle so the microwave could be plugged in. This very warm and friendly couple insisted on feeding me lunch, while I was working there. And the wife had a bit of a thing about smudged and dirty eyeglasses, so she constantly had me giving her my glasses to clean. It was an entertaining few days.

By itself, the tumbled marble adds a nice depth to the look. The small diamond accent serves well to break up the mass of the larger tile.

The dated tile back splash was removed and a more modern one took it's place. We also removed the oak sunshine ceiling and replaced the lighting with brand new LED mini spotlights.

This style of tile gets installed a lot. I personally don't like the look, but to each their own.
